Live Action Quick Tips

Did you know….

Kung Pao Chicken gets its name from its first adoring fan: Ding Baozhen.

As a boy in Guizhou the early nineteenth century, the story goes, Ding Baozhen accidentally fell into the water. He couldn’t swim, but he was saved by a man who happened to be passing by. Ding grew up and became a government official, eventually attaining the rank of Gōngbǎo (宫保) at a post in Sichuan Province. Reflecting on the man had once who saved his life as a boy, he decided to pay the family a visit to express his gratitude.

While visiting their home, Ding Baozhen was served a dish featuring diced chicken, peanuts, and spicy Sichuan peppercorns. He liked the flavor, and legend has it that he asked the family chef for the recipe and began eating it on a regular basis and serving it to his own guests. The dish quickly spread around Sichuan Province, where it came to be called gōngbǎo jīdīng 宫保鸡丁 in honor of the dish’s most ardent fan, Ding Baozhen.(theworldofchinese.com)

Once you pop you can’t stop!

It’s Thursday night and Friday is so close you can almost taste it. I’ve always thought of Thursday’s as a good night to go out and start the pre-weekend with a few drinks and there is no better place to have drinks and appetizers than Santana Row in San Jose, Ca!

There are many stores to choose from, including a shopping mall across the street, and within Santana Row there is a variety of high profile food restaurants to choose from as well to massage your palate with delectable dishes of delight.

One of my favorite places to go for drinks and appetizers during Happy Hour is Sino’s. They have great tasting food, with great music and the crowd is a business type crowd usually trying to get a drink after work.

To describe it, they are a more elegant style Chinese food restaurant/bar with a hip vibe, bright vibrant colors and one of my favorite appetizers in the world called Kung Pao Chicken “LOLLIPOPS” with crushed cashew and garlic chives.

They shape huge chicken drumsticks to the shape of lollipops and then add this tangy, sweet spicy sauce to it with crushed cashew and garlic chives which really blends with a cold beer! Yum!

Should I grab my beer and sip it first or should I grab the Lollipop then sip. Bite or sip..Sip or Bite..

Aaaaah! Who gives a damn! I grab my beer in left hand and lollipop in the right hand.. Sip.. Aaaaah..The sizzle from the carbonation crawling down my throat gets the party started.

Crunch! The bite of the lollipop is a crunchy bite from the kung pao crust and then the tenderness of the chicken inside and the sauce together separates this magnificent creation from any chicken wing I have ever tasted. True artistic work of a delicious treat! That’s live action eating!

The cost is $12 for these nuggets of love and they are enough to fill you up if you are a light eater so share them if you can withstand the greed . You also have a wide variety of choices of different dishes that will really take you to a place of mystical bliss so be hungry.

If you come visit the San Jose area I highly suggest you come out to Santana Row for a night out to engage in this favored place of divine eating and excitement. You won’t regret it!

Thanks for joining me on today’s breathtaking adventure. I look forward to you joining me on the next one. Keep hope alive!

Eating is an enjoyable way of life.Live it..Learn it..Love it!
