Live Action Quick Tips

Did you know….

When groups of German immigrants began arriving in America during the 19th century, many earned their livelihood by opening restaurants in large cities like Chicago and New York. It wasn’t long before many of their menus featured an Americanized version of the Hamburg steak– beef that was minced or chopped and combined with garlic, onions, salt and pepper, then grilled or fried. In 1837, New York’s Delmonico’s restaurant offered a Hamburg steak on its first menu. At 10 cents it was the most expensive item, twice the cost of pork chops, veal cutlets and roast beef. A German restaurant at Philadelphia’s Centennial Exposition in 1876 served Hamburg steaks to thousands of customers. Afterwards the dish was in high demand, and could be found in non-German restaurants and in cookbooks like Mrs. Lincoln’s Boston Cook Book, published in 1884:

Hamburgh Steak. – Pound a slice of round steak enough to break the fibre. Fry two orthree onions, minced fine, in butter until slightly browned. Spread the onions over the meat, fold the ends of the meat together, and pound again, to keep the onions in the middle. Broil two or three minutes. Spread with butter, salt and pepper.”(toriavey.com)

Hands down..Five guys is one of the best burgers I have ever had!!

I don’t eat it all the time because of the calories but I tell you what; when I do I make sure to do it right!

When you first walk in you will see an easy menu to choose from, either you are eating a burger or a hot dog pretty much and out of those you can have selection of toppings to choose from.

These toppings are mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, relish, raw onion, jalapeño peppers, green peppers, A1 sauce, BBQ sauce and hot sauce.

We’re going with the bacon burger today and my favorite topping selection on my burger is what they call All The Way. That will give you mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, and mustard.

I usually add everything except the mushrooms and then add jalapenos to this magnificent specimen. It is your world when you order your meal so play around with the toppings until you find what fits you.

Also keep in mind that they will ask you if you want 1 pattie or 2 patties or more… Endless eradication of this delicious creation at your fingertips!

I usually go with 2 patties since they are somewhat thin and trust me their beef is definitely worthy!

Five Guys uses 80/20 ground chuck-high quality ground beef containing only steer and heifer meat, which does not include any cow meat or fatty trimmings. We do not use ammoniated procedures to treat our ground beef. This means that there is NO “pink slime” in our burgers. Our beef comes from the percentage of companies that do NOT use these methods. I also noticed from experience that the toppings are extremely fresh as well. Every item has a fresh powerful exuberance of tasty delight so you will absolutely enjoy every bite!

“Trev, you are making my mouth water..can you get to the eating part..”

“Sorry for the long haul to get to heaven, my dear patient friend. Let’s Continue..”

When I hear my number called my heart begins to pant faster and faster as I walk to pick up my order from the counter.

I open the bag and there is this large foil wrapped monster begging to erupt out of this thing!

I open it up and hear  the song “Hallelujah,Hallelujah!!”

The aroma, the sight of bacon and the bright red and green from the tomatoes and jalapenos..The patties stand like Thor on a mountain top as this art work demands a salute!

I salute the burger and dive right in!!

Each bite is an experience of a lifetime! It’s like climbing Mount Everest.. like diving into Niagra Falls, or maybe it is like skydiving from 30,000 feet!!

The meat is silky soft and juicy combined with a sweet bun, succulent crunchy bacon, with the spice from the jalapeno and then a cool off sensation with the mayo, mustard and ketchup that just makes each bite unordinary and superb! True live action eating!

If you have never experienced Five Guys then I suggest you do..I promise you that you won’t be disappointed!

Thanks for joining me on today’s adventure! I look forward to seeing you on the next run.. Keep hope alive!

Eating is an enjoyable way of life.Live it..Learn it..Love it!
