Live Action Quick Tips

Did you know….

Dickens was a true Victorian foodie, a man who took serious pleasure in eating and drinking. His culinary interests likely stemmed from surviving meager times during his youth. As the son of a man who often lived beyond his means, young Dickens was saddled with the task of making money for his indebted family. After his father was sentenced to prison for his debts, 12 year-old Dickens was forced to leave school and take a job in a boot-blacking factory. Being a naturally intelligent and creative child, this unpleasant factory work was tantamount to a prison sentence for young Dickens. He only worked in the factory for a few months, but the difficult experience helped to shape his personality. Dickens had a flare for championing the everyman in his stories, a writing style that eventually became known as “Dickensian.” His novels stir compassion for the overworked and underpaid. Having lived through lean times, Dickens equated food and drink with abundance, a feeling made evident in nearly every story he wrote.(pbs.org)

Frances Dampier’s TasteBook Recipe – Cabbage Greens

It’s Monday….

Yep.. it’s Monday…..

Aaaaaah man. it’s Monday..

What must I say, for this kind of day, I’m in battle “Touche”..with my food imagination in Anime..

I’m in dismay, feeling hungry like I’m in Castaway..For now I’ll just stay in hopes for a dinner display..

Having a case of the Monday’s sucks so you have to do something to get you excited to be alive again.

Regardless of the hectic work day, cumbersome housework and making lunches for the kids there needs to be a cheer up moment sometime during the day.

Nothing better brightens up my day than barbecue chicken wings with a little rice and cabbage to go with it!

The meal in itself is pretty simple to make and every one at the table will be full, satisfied and filled with love as each of you gorge down these tasty fiddles with smiles on your faces.

The first key for making great chicken wings is the type of wings you buy. Anytime I cook chicken wings I always go and grab the Party Wings at the market as these remind me of bar food when I go out and they really pack a punch with flavor if cooked right.

They are more bite size than the larger wings you can buy which makes it more fun to assassinate them one by one on your dinner plate.

I like seasoning one side with creole seasoning and then flip them over and season the other side with lemon pepper.

Squeeze an orange or lemon over the wings generously while they sit in the pan you plan to cook them in and place in oven on 350 degrees heat for about an hour and half.

The best next step is to grill them just to get the sear on both sides and braise them with your favorite barbecue sauce; else just braise them in the oven on both sides and cook for another 10-15 minutes.

They will be ready to be attacked at that point!

Going hand and hand with those succulent wings is some crisp ripe cabbage. It will not only make it a healthier meal but will also give your meal that pizzazz color needed and additional textures to experience as well.

My mother has a delicious cabbage recipe straight form the heart of Mississippi that I shared with you in a link above.Try it! Dig in! You will love it!

Outside of the luscious barbecue taste of chicken you will have that soothing but potent flavor coming from the cabbage and then to top that off add some jasmine rice and now you have a masterpiece or delightful perfection! True live action eating!

Thanks for joining me on today’s adventure! I look forward to seeing you on the next run! Keep hope alive!

Eating is an enjoyable way of life.Live it..Learn it..Love it!
