Live Action Quick Tips
Did you know….
A Muslim butcher opened recently in our neighborhood and they sell halal meat. We wondered, what exactly does “halal” mean?
Halal is an Arabic word that means “permissible.” In terms of food, it means food that is permissible according to Islamic law. For a meat to be certified “halal,” it cannot be a forbidden cut (such as meat from hindquarters) or animal (such as pork.)
The slaughter of a halal animal is called “zabihah” and there are certain guidelines to follow:
Allah’s (God’s) name must be pronounced during slaughter.
The instrument must be very sharp to ensure humane slaughter. The animal must be slit at the throat.
The animal must not be unconscious
The animal must be hung upside down and allowed to bleed dry. Eating blood is not halal.
These steps must be accomplished by a Muslim or the People of the Book (Christian or Jew.) Many observant Muslims find kosher meat acceptable.
The animal must have been fed a natural diet that did not contain animal by-products.(thekitchn.com)
Menage a Trois on Dutch Crunch with Bacon
I have to tell you folks..Hands down this is the best Chicken Sandwich I have ever tasted in my life!
If I was being sentenced to death by electric chair..This would be my final meal!
If there was an alien attack on earth and they were knocking at my door..This would be my last meal!
If I heard the trumpets from heaven calling all of His Saints to meet Him in the sky.. This would be my last meal!
Ike Shehadeh, the founder of Ike’s Place must be a scientific genius and I’m sure he brewed up this sandwich in a mad man’s machine right next to Frankenstein.
Just talking about it makes me think this sandwich must have been created to be eaten by Greek Gods. Us normal beings on this land are not worthy for such a divine creation.
Let’s talk about it..
I remember a couple of years back my older brother told me he ran into this sandwich place near Stanford and it was ridiculously good and I had to try it.
My brother has great taste buds I can trust so I let him know I would try it. I eventually saw a brand new Ike’s Place open up by DeAnza college and I figured I would give it a shot.
First thing that caught my eye was all of the cool and hip names of the sandwiches: Bruce Banner, Elvis Kieth, Madison Bumgarner, Menage a Trois and many others.
I asked the cashier, what is one of the best choice sandwiches they have and she let me know a lot of people order the Menage a Trois.
I texted my brother for confirmation and he said make sure to add bacon and have it on Dutch Crunch Bread.
With 2 suggestions confirmed I went ahead and ordered the Menage a Trois with bacon on Dutch Crunch bread.
I received this divine masterpiece with a kind gesture of them adding an apple caramel lollipop that I used to enjoy as a kid. Ike had to have grown up in the 80’s because this lollipop was a top seller everywhere when I was a kid. It really brought back memories.
Back to this Godwich, I open up the package and I can visualize the taste just by looking at it. It has BBQ Sauce, Cheddar, Halal Chicken, Honey Mustard, Pepper Jack, Real Honey, Swiss, and my added bacon all winking at me and tempting me. Food porn central!
I bite into it..
Crunch!! The bread was crunchy and has a good favor to it and can be eaten by itself.
The chicken is so tender it melts in your mouth!! The bacon is sweet and succulent!
Combined with the honey mustard and BBQ sauce; this is a July 4th explosion in the mouth!!
I keep biting and chewing..Biting and chewing until there is nothing left!
Complete mind boggling experience!
Best chicken sandwich on the planet!! I salute this Menage a Trois sandwich as a true champion of art! True live action eating! Good job Ike’s!!
If you have never tried an Ike’s Sandwich before then I suggest you find one quick and fast! You will not be disappointed!
Thanks for joining me on today’s adventure! I look forward to seeing you on the next run! Keep hope alive!
Eating is an enjoyable way of life.Live it..Learn it..Love it!
