Live Action Quick Tips

Did you know….

Cobb salad was created at the Brown Derby Restaurant in Hollywood.

As with many “how this began stories” We don’t know how much is actual fact, but here is the official story from the Brown Derby themselves.

“One night in 1937, Bob Cobb, then owner of The Brown Derby, prowled hungrily in his restaurant’s kitchen for a snack. Opening the huge refrigerator, he pulled out this and that: a head of lettuce, an avocado, some romaine, watercress, tomatoes, some cold breast of chicken, a hard-boiled egg, chives, cheese and some old-fashioned French dressing. He started chopping. Added some crisp bacon — swiped from a busy chef.

“The Cobb salad was born. It was so good, Sid Grauman (Grauman’s Chinese Theatre), who was with Cobb that midnight, asked the next day for a ‘Cobb Salad.’ It was so good that it was put on the menu.(kitchenproject.com)

So the three day weekend is over and all of that barbecue from Memorial Day is still stuck in my ribs..

Time to tone this meat eating extravaganza down a bit by getting a salad today.

The good news is that we have some new hires starting at my job today which means my boss will take us somewhere nice to welcome them in. Nice!!

That restaurant of choice is an elegant restaurant called Birk’s!

One thing I like about Birk’s is the elegant and fancy ambiance and the great tasting food. The menu can be a bit pricey so I usually only go there when it comes to business. However, this would be a great place for special occasions as well or a romantic lunch or dinner.

Since I had my fill of ribs, hotlinks, baked beans and every other barbecue dish you could think of this Memorial Day weekend, I decided to order a salad.

Not just an ordinary salad but a super duper seafood salad filled with all kinds of wonderful goodies that will make your seafood loving head explode…

Lobster meat, shrimp, cod, romaine, avocado, tomato, Applewood bacon,a sliced hard boiled egg, and blue cheese. All caressing each other with a thin blanket of citrus blue cheese dressing that I drizzled over it.

The shrimp was nice and plump, while the lobster meat was succulent and scrumptious, combined with thick but delicate cod that just made this dish a sensation to the seafood loving mind! Not to mention the sweet and tender Applewood bacon that brings a firework finale to every bite!

I have to say that this was one of the most satisfying salads I have ever had! True live action eating! Good job Birk’s!

Thanks for joining me on today’s adventure! I look forward to seeing you on the next run! Keep hope alive!

Eating is an enjoyable way of life.Live it..Learn it..Love it!
