This Catfish Po’Boy will make you lose your mind; Happy 4th of July from Steins!

Live Action Quick Tips

Did you know….

Poor boy sandwiches represent bedrock New Orleans. The shotgun house of New Orleans cuisine, Po-boys are familiar but satisfying. The sandwich is as diverse as the city it symbolizes. The crisp loaves have served as a culinary crossroads, encasing the most pedestrian and exotic of foods: shrimp, oyster, catfish, soft-shell crabs as well as French fries and ham and cheese. Comfort food in other cities seldom reaches such heights.

As with many culinary innovations, the poor boy has attracted many legends regarding its origins. However, documentary evidence confirms that your grandparents’ stories about one particular restaurant were right.

Bennie and Clovis Martin left their Raceland, Louisiana, home in the Acadiana region in the mid-1910s for New Orleans. Both worked as streetcar conductors until they opened Martin Brothers’ Coffee Stand and Restaurant in the French Market in 1922. The years they had spent working as streetcar operators and members of the street railway employees’ union would eventually lead to their hole-in-the-wall coffee stand becoming the birthplace of the poor boy sandwich.(poboyfest.com)

Happy hour is one of my favorite dining sensations.

It is a specific time of the day where bars, restaurants or any other type of food serving facility that serves alcohol, offers delicious reduced price delights with your favorite drink to do cheers with a lover or friend.

It is the 4th of July, 2016 and my wife and I are ready to kick it off with a bang!

That bang is with 2 shots of Don Julio over at Steins!

Let’s talk about it…

So like I said, it is the 4th of July and I am ready for an ice cold IPA and something spectacular to sink my teeth into while celebrating our independence.

We arrive to this marvelous beer garden in a wonderful location in downtown Mountain View with a relaxing setting in their back patio, which is perfect to enjoy drinks and leisure time.

I order a couple of shots to get my taste buds going and take a look at their wonderful selection of all kinds of scrumptious delights.

Some items that caught my eye were The Steins Burger – House ground blend of dry aged short rib, brisket & sirloin, Fried Chicken Sandwich – Buttermilk battered chicken thigh, brioche crust, chili lime slaw, dill pickles on ciabatta and many more.

What really caught my eye was the Catfish Po’Boy Sandwich – Cornmeal crusted catfish, butter lettuce, tomato, remoulade, dill pickles on a hoagie roll.

You also have the option to add extra toppings, like grilled onions, mushrooms and much more; I went with bourbon jalapenos.

After I order another shot, the monstrosity arrives!

This gorgeous masterpiece is stunning to say the least.

A thick beautiful flaky fish pokes her way with a dress of colorful condiments begging for you take a bite.Every curve on her body from the buns mirror perfection.

I dive right in! Let’s go!!

Instant explosion!!

Kaplooooooow!!

The catfish is succulent, light and tender. The jalapenos give it a perfect spice, not too much and not too little. There is a lemony type flavor that burst from the fish which combined with the tomato and lettuce cools every bite down to a summery finish. Once you bite the dill pickle, the burst of flavor is complete as it gives just a bit of sourness to make your taste buds get a faultless injection of love.

Another bite!!!

Boooooooooom!!

The flavor did not decrease at all. Every bite is just as good as the 1st!!

Gotta keep chewing so I don’t choke. I just want to bite and swallow, bite and swallow.

Gotta chew..Gotta chew…

Boooom!! Bang!!! Pow!!

Nothing but true live action eating! Fantastic job Steins! Best Catfish Po’ Boy I have had!

Thanks for joining me on today’s adventure! I look forward to seeing you on the next run! Keep hope alive!

Eating is an enjoyable way of life. Live it..Learn it..Love it!
