Steve Fletcher shares information related to new Sunspot 2891 coming around the bend to point towards Earth very shortly that has already shot off a flurry of C Flares and two M Class Flares!!
A new sunspot region currently on the north-east limb is really making itself known today. We have had a flurry of C-class solar flares from this new region today and it even managed to produce not one, but two M-class solar flares!
The first of these M-class solar flares took place at 02:47 UTC and peaked at M1.3 (R1-minor). The second M-class solar flare that took place today was an M1.0 solar flare (R1-minor) and peaked at 15:57 UTC. None of these eruptions or any of the C-class solar flares produced coronal mass ejections with an earth-directed component. This is of course due to this region’s location on the east limb.
