Russia’s Strategic Nuclear Forces has for the first time launched a test launch of the fifth generation RS-28 (15A28) Sarmat ICBM intercontinental ballistic missile, also known as the “Satan 2”.
The Russians launched the intercontinental ballistic missile with multiple MIRV warheads, simulating the drilling of a NATO missile shield (BMD) in Romania and Poland.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the Russian Armed Forces on the successful launch of the RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile.
“Those who try to threaten Russia will think twice. “It’s food for thought,” Vladimir Putin said in a televised meeting with military officials.
“There is no analogue of it on the planet and it will not exist for a long time,” he said, according to Reuters.
“This is a big, important event in the development of advanced weapons systems of the Russian army. “The new intercontinental ballistic missile has the highest tactical and technical characteristics and is able to avoid all modern means of missile defense,” said the Russian president.
Putin noted that there is nothing similar to the RS-28 Sarmat in the world. According to the Russian president, this is a unique weapon that will strengthen the arsenal of the Russian Armed Forces and will reliably ensure Russia’s security from external threats.
Ahead of the launch, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told Putin that preparations for the test had been completed.
“Commander-in-Chief, preparations for the first Sarmat missile test flight have been completed at the first state test track in the Arkhangelsk region,” he said.
