Aryeh King, the Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem turned to Zeev Elkin, the Minister of Jerusalem Affairs and Minister of Housing and Construction, and requested that he consult with Moshe Lion, the Mayor of Jerusalem to discuss the option of cutting off all contact with Israel’s government. King claims the government is destroying the city of Jerusalem, endangering the residents of the city, and working to abolish the sovereignty and governance of Jerusalem.
If accepted the decision would, of course, need to be raised before Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Moshe Lion, the mayor of Jerusalem.
King, who is also the founder of the Israel Land Foundation, appeared on Channel 14’s Ulpan HaPatuach (open forum). King made a disturbing prediction:
“Tomorrow, Jerusalem will see something that I have never seen in the 25 years that I have served in the city government,” King said. “Tomorrow, the residents of central Jerusalem violent riots and even hostile terrorist activity.”
King was referring to the Friday funeral of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh who was shot and killed during a shootout between Palestinian Terrorists and the IDF in Jenin last Wednesday. “I am not talking about areas like Bet Hanina. I am talking about the center of the city. And the one who is going to lead this is Ahmad [Tibi],” King said.
