Erdogan bloodied Northern Iraq as a Turkish drone, likely a Bayraktar TB2, bombed tourist sites in Batifa, Zakho District, northern Iraq, killing more than a dozen Iraqi and Arab tourists and injuring 23 others.
The number is expected to increase dramatically. Unfortunately there are dead children, maimed and many critically injured. Duhok’s hospital is full. Information indicates that at the time of the bombing there were at least 200 tourists in the area.
Protesters in Baghdad took down and burned the Turkish flag outside the embassy in response to Turkey’s massacre of civilians while closing the Turkish Visa Office in Basra. Iraqi riot police have surrounded the Turkish embassy and are trying to prevent the crowd from a potential invasion.
The Iranian-backed militia Ashab Al-Kahaf (Companions of the Cave) claims it will launch attacks against Turkish military bases in Northern Iraq,
The Iraqi militia Liwa Ahrar al-Iraq, which is part of the Iranian-backed Axis of Resistance, has also threatened attacks on Turkish targets.
It is a strange coincidence that Erdogan chose to set fire to Iraq. Immediately after the tripartite meeting in Tehran, it decides to bomb a tourist resort in a Kurdish region. The incident has sparked strong reactions that are not yet clear whether they will favor Ankara.
Unless Erdogan has received some assurances from Moscow and Tehran…
