The “significant discovery” was made in the Cronos-1 well, in block 6 of the Cypriot EEZ, at a distance of 160 kilometers from the coast of Cyprus and at a depth of 2,287 meters.
“The sale of Iron Dome to Cyprus serves Israel’s national security interests, especially with regard to natural gas fields in the Eastern Mediterranean,” Kobi Michael from Israel’s leading National Security Institute, INSS, said in an interview.

Cyprus is gradually acquiring an anti-aircraft “umbrella” that will cover the entire island, enabling the National Guard to impose a No-Fly Zone over the Occupied Territories against the obsolete (until non-existent) Turkish F-16s.
Cyprus is the first country outside the US-Israel to be equipped with the Iron Dome.
We could say that the integration of Israel’s air defense with allied countries, such as Cyprus, has already begun, confirming that a single defensive geopolitical corridor is being created that starts in Greece, continues in Cyprus and heads towards Israel.
Today’s discovery of the large natural gas field in the Cypriot EEZ comes to strengthen this defense axis.
Turkey is not going to gain access to these fields. Therefore, the risk of a military relapse within the Cypriot EEZ is visible.
