Thailand warns of increases in dengue fever and hand, foot and mouth disease – Outbreak News Today.

From May 1 to August 26, 2022, the following were identified in metropolitan France:

123 imported cases of dengue fever; 112 were diagnosed in departments with documented implantation of Aedes albopictus
8 imported cases of chikungunya
2 imported cases of zika

Officials from the Thailand Department of Disease Control (DDC) are advising the public to be aware of diseases such as dengue fever, hand-foot-mouth disease and other potential illnesses that could intensify during the rainy season.

Government Deputy Spokesperson Traisuree Taisaranakul urged people to see a doctor immediately if they experience a high fever for more than two days, and especially if they develop a persistent headache, muscle pain and tiny red spots on their body and limbs. She also recommended eradicating mosquito breeding grounds and covering water containers to keep the insects from laying eggs in them.

Concerning dengue, the Bureau of Epidemiology has reported 17,412 total cases since the beginning of the year, including 14 fatalities.

This is up from 10,617 cases and 6 deaths in all of 2021.

As for hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), Thai officials have reported 26,775 cases in 2022 to date. This compares to 19,620 HFMD cases reported in all of last year.

Taisaranakul said concerning HFMD in young children in the country, which could intensify during the rainy season. This disease causes fever, fatigue, red blisters on the tongue and gums, and clear blisters on the hands and feet of patients. She advised parents and teachers to closely monitor their children’s health and to seek medical attention as soon as they notice any of these symptoms.
