MOSCOW, September 29. /TASS/. NATO member countries conducted drills in July using deep-sea equipment near the Nord Streams leaks site, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.
“In July, there were NATO drills with the use of deep-sea equipment in the area of the island of Bornholm,” she said.
Zakharova also stressed that the region was crammed with NATO infrastructure.
On Tuesday, the Nord Stream AG company reported that three threads of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 offshore gas pipelines had suffered unprecedented damage on Monday. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow was “deeply concerned about the news” and did not rule out that the pipelines’ operation could have been disrupted by an act of sabotage. Swedish seismologists later reported that two explosions had been recorded along the Nord Stream pipelines on Monday.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen slammed the incidents as sabotage, pointing out that any “deliberate disruption of the European energy infrastructure is unacceptable and will lead to the strongest possible response”. On Thursday, the Swedish Coast Guard discovered another gas leak from the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines.

Russia is preparing to reopen the Kiev front by moving military forces into Belarus.
Russian and Ukrainian sources speak of intensive preparations of the Belarusian railway network to transport hundreds of tanks, armored vehicles and other weapons systems.
At the same time, works are underway at Zyabrovka and Luninets airports which are expected to be completed within two months.
The first information speaks of 20,000 Russian reservists who will be transferred to Belarus with this number reinforced by Belarusian forces. It seems that it is only a matter of time before Belarus actively participates in the Ukrainian war. Perhaps that is why Putin and Lukashenko met yesterday in Sochi.
If the information about the entry of Belarus into the war is correct, then a number of 100,000 soldiers will be gathered with an area of responsibility in northwestern Ukraine.
Ukrainian sources speak of 100,000 Belarusian soldiers alone. The figure is huge by Minsk’s standards and cannot be achieved without conscription.

Between these two events, some changes were observed in the work of the railway network of Belarus which may affect the further course of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said the amount of water rising in parts of Florida from Hurricane Ian is “basically a 500-year flood event.”
Hurricane Ian carved a path of destruction across Florida, trapping people in flooded homes, cutting off the only bridge to a barrier island, damaging a hospital from above and below, and knocking out power to 2.5 million people as it dumped rain over a huge area on Thursday.
According to the AP, One of the strongest hurricanes to ever hit the United States threatened catastrophic flooding around the state. Ian’s tropical storm-force winds extended outward up to 415 miles (665 km), drenching much of Florida and the southeastern Atlantic coast.
Authorities confirmed at least one storm death in Florida — a 72-year-old man in Deltona who fell into a canal while using a hose to drain his pool in the heavy rain, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said. Another Florida sheriff said he believes the death toll would be “in the hundreds.”
Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno told ABC’s “Good Morning America” that roads and bridges remained impassable, stranding thousands of people calling 911 to be rescued in the county that includes Fort Myers. “Fatalities are in the hundreds,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno told Good Morning America on Thursday.
Ian was moving northeast across Florida at about 8 mph with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph at 5 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center. However, the agency warned that Ian could pick back up and reach hurricane strength as it reaches Florida’s east coast on Saturday, posing risks to Georgia and the Carolinas.
The NHC downgraded Hurricane Ian to tropical storm status early Thursday morning after the storm began to weaken gradually overnight Wednesday as it moved across central Florida. It’s not yet clear how many fatalities or injuries have been sustained due to Ian, and there have not been any reports or numbers from state officials.
President Joe Biden declared a major disaster for Florida early Thursday morning, approving the distribution of federal aid to supplement recovery efforts in the aftermath of Ian. This federal assistance includes grants for temporary housing and home repairs, loans to insure property losses, and other programs to assist business owners in recovering from the storm’s damage.

Putin will ratify the border change on Friday, a decision that will escalate the war and could even lead to the use of nuclear weapons if Ukraine continues to attack territory Moscow now considers Russian.
Now the 4 former regions of Ukraine will be subject to Russia’s nuclear strategic doctrine. Announcing referendums in Ukraine’s Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions last week, Putin warned that he would respond with nuclear weapons if the national security of Russia, of which the four former regions will be a part from tomorrow, is threatened of Ukraine.
Afterwards, B. Putin is expected to deliver an ultimatum and demand that the Ukrainian forces withdraw from Donetsk, Zaporizhia as well as stop the attacks on Kherson and Donbass. If the Ukrainians continue, then the specter of a nuclear strike looms dangerously close.
Lugansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson constitute an area of over 90,000 square kilometers and 15% of the territory of the total area of Ukraine. In other words, the territory of the regions incorporated by Putin is equal to the size of Hungary or Portugal and includes about 4 million Russian speakers.
This is the largest annexation of European territory since World War II.

The Florida Department of Health reported three additional locally-acquired dengue fever cases in Miami-Dade County in the week ending September 24.
This brings the county’s total to 21 this year and the state’s total to 22. (One case was reported in Collier County).
Nineteen of the cases have been serotyped by PCR and were all DENV-3.
In addition, Four hundred and sixty-four cases with onset in 2022 have been reported in individuals with travel history to a dengue endemic area in the two weeks prior to onset.
Counties reporting cases were: Brevard (2), Broward (30), Collier (2), Duval (7), Escambia (2), Hendry, Hernando (2), Hillsborough (43), Lee (20), Leon, Manatee (2), Martin (2), Miami-Dade (300), Monroe (3), Orange (6), Osceola, Palm Beach (14), Pasco, Pinellas (7), Polk (8), Sarasota (4), St. Johns, and St. Lucie (5). Five cases were reported in non-Florida residents
Four cases met the criteria for severe dengue (dengue shock syndrome [DSS] or dengue hemorrhagic fever [DHF]). Speaking at the opening of the WTO’s annual public forum in Geneva, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala noted that the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund have both downgraded their global growth forecasts, and that trade indicators are “not looking too good.”
Colliding crises such as surging food prices, the soaring cost of living, and the energy crunch, first triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic and then aggravated by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, have created the conditions for a global recession.
“I think a global recession. That’s what I think we are edging into. But at the same time, we have to start thinking of the recovery. We have to restore growth,” Okonjo-Iweala said.
The former Nigerian finance and foreign minister stressed that as these shocks are “hitting countries at the same time,” radical policies will be needed to revive growth.
“Central banks don’t really have too much of a choice but to tighten and increase interest rates,” she said, admitting that the repercussions on emerging markets and developing countries would be “quite severe.”
The head of the WTO also called on central banks to determine the reasons behind the inflationary crisis, adding that her main concerns were ensuring food security and access to energy.

In a terrifying show of force, Iran launched 73 ballistic missiles and dozens of Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones against targets in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Sardar Pakpour, commander of Iran’s ground forces, revealed that 73 ballistic missiles were fired at Kurdish opposition forces in northern Iraq.
The missiles hit targets in 42 locations, some of which are 400 kilometers away.
Three waves of attacks were conducted, the first wave was 25 ballistic missiles, the second 25 ballistic missiles and the third 23 ballistic missiles. Between each wave of attack there was a gap of several minutes.
Iran, as the videos below show, hit the entire length and breadth of Iraqi Kurdistan: Kurdish headquarters, training centers, camps, weapons depots, etc.
This unprecedented attack by Iran shows, on the one hand, that Tehran is rehearsing the use of long-range ballistic missiles against US and allied bases in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar in the event of a conflict.
On the other hand, it shows that there is a serious problem called “Kurds”. Turkey and Iran today joined forces and tightened their cooperation against the Kurds.

Acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) is a rare but serious nerve-related condition that occurs mostly in children – it is similar to polio. It comes from a virus that is the common cold. This “polio-like” illness attacks the spinal cord and the nerves that go to the muscles.
(CNN)Doctors should prepare for a possible increase in young patients with enterovirus D68, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Tuesday, and that may be linked to more cases of the rare, paralyzing condition acute flaccid myelitis.
There was an increase in acute respiratory illnesses and emergency department visits driven by rhinovirus and enterovirus in children and adolescents this summer, new CDC data shows. The rise might be more specifically attributed to enterovirus D68, which, in rare cases, can lead to acute flaccid myelitis, or AFM.
“Health care facilities should be prepared for possible increases in pediatric health care use associated with severe EV-D68-associated respiratory illness,” the CDC said Tuesday in its Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. “Past increases in EV-D68 circulation were also associated with increased reports of AFM.”
AFM causes weakness and paralysis of the arms and legs.
The CDC has detected increases in enterovirus D68 every two years or so, and this month, the agency warned doctors to be on the lookout for infections. The virus tends to peak in the late summer and early fall.
Russia moved three nuclear-capable Tu-160 strategic bombers near the border with Finland and three MiG-31 Kh-47M2 Kinzhals to Kaliningrad in moves that hint at the gradual activation of its nuclear arsenal.
Both of these weapons can carry nuclear warheads, and the question is whether Moscow is gradually preparing to implement a nuclear plan.
This fact also worries NATO. US-Swedish jets were flying today scanning Kaliningrad. USAF RC-135W Rivet Joint and SwAF Korpen aircraft were spotted in the area observing Kaliningrad from all sides.
Equally worrying is the fact that a Squadron of eight warships from Russia and China was spotted operating off Alaska in the US EEZ. This is an unprecedented challenge that reminds Washington that “the two countries will fight together”.
Russian-Chinese fleet inside US EEZ off Alaska
The US military revealed that earlier this month, while a US Coast Guard ship was on a routine patrol in the Bering Sea, its crew were surprised to encounter a squadron of ships from Russia and China.
More specifically, on September 19, a squadron of 5 Russian ships consisting of 1 frigate, 3 corvettes, 1 supply ship along with 3 Chinese ships, 1 destroyer, 1 corvette and 1 supply ship appeared in the US EEZ north of Kiska Island, Alaska.
The US Coast Guard vessel USCGC Kimball (WMSL-756) spotted the three Chinese and five Russian vessels in the Bering Sea, 75 nautical miles north of Kiska Island in Alaska on September 19, within the US Exclusive Economic Zone.
Initially, the crew of the US Coast Guard ship USCGC Kimball (WMSL-756) on a routine patrol in the Bering Sea encountered the People’s Republic of China guided-missile cruiser Renhai CG 101, sailing approximately 75 nautical miles north of Kiska Island in the Alaska.
Kimball’s crew later spotted two more Chinese ships and four Russian ships, including a Russian Federation destroyer, all in a single surface combat formation operating in the US Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The Honolulu-based Kimball, a 418-foot (127-meter) vessel, later observed that the ships broke formation and dispersed. A C-130 Hercules provided air support to Kimball from Coast Guard Station Kodiak.
“While the formation had operated in accordance with international norms, we must ensure that there are no disruptions to US interests in the maritime environment around Alaska ,” said Vice Adm. Nathan Moore, commander of the 17th Coast Guard.
Kimball will continue to monitor the area
The Chinese and Russian formation came a month after NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg warned about China’s interest in the Arctic and Russia’s military buildup there.
Stoltenberg said Russia has created a new Arctic Command and opened hundreds of new and former Soviet-era military sites in the Arctic, including deep-sea ports and airfields.
“Beijing and Moscow are also committed to intensifying practical cooperation in the Arctic. This is part of a deepening strategic partnership that challenges our values and interests ,” Stoltenberg said on a visit to Canada’s north.
