The developments for the Russian Army in Kherson are also bad. The Ukrainians launched attacks in waves breaking through the Russian defensive lines. The Russians could not withstand the continued pressure nor did reinforcements ever arrive.
The forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are estimated at about 3-4 mechanized battalions and at least one tank battalion! In total the Ukrainians have moved over 100 AFVs with the Russian forces being minimal!
Now they have managed within a few hours to advance to a depth of 20-25 km behind the front line, recapturing a number of areas.
The situation is dramatic and is expected to worsen in the coming hours. Russian forces are desperately asking for air cover in the area which, for unknown reasons, is not forthcoming.
The Ukrainians have brought under their control the districts of Zolota Balka, Leninske, Khreschenivka, Liubymivka, Petrivka and recently Dudchany. (main article photo)
Now the Ukrainian forces are moving towards Nova Kakhovka, aiming at the Dnieper dam.
This is the second shock after the defeat in Karasny Liman. The Russian staffs have achieved the impossible: They did not see in time either the great counterattack of the Ukrainians in Kharkiv or now in Kherson.
