The Meaning of Numbers: The Number 8
The number 8 represents a new beginning, meaning a new order or creation, and man’s true ‘born again’ event when he is resurrected from the dead into eternal life.
Eight is also an integral part of Jesus’ sacrifice. Like the Passover lamb, Jesus was selected as the Lamb to take away man’s sins on Nisan 10 (April 1, 30 A.D. – John 12: 28 – 29). He was crucified on Nisan 14 (Wednesday, April 5 in 30 A.D.). His resurrection occurred three complete days after he was buried, which was at the end of the weekly Sabbath day that fell on Nisan 17. Nisan 17 was day 8, counting inclusively, from the time Christ was selected as man’s sacrificial Lamb. All this bears record of Jesus’ perfect sacrifice and His complete victory over death.
Boys were to be circumcised on the 8th day. The number 8 symbolizes circumcision of the heart through Christ and the receiving of the Holy Spirit (Romans 2:28 – 29, Colossians 2:11 – 13). Those in Christ are becoming a new creation, with godly character being created by the power of God’s Spirit (2Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 2:10; 4:23 – 24).
The Meaning of Numbers: The Number 11
The meaning of the number eleven is important in that it can symbolize disorder, chaos and judgment. In the Bible, 11 is used twenty-four times and “11th” can be found 19 times.
Coming after 10 (which represents law and responsibility), eleven (11) represents the opposite, which is the irresponsibility of breaking the Law, which brings disorder and judgment.
Jesus was about 33 years (a multiple of eleven) when he died (‘cut off’ in Daniel 9:26) for the sins of mankind.
The Name “Jesus” and the Number 888 (Numerical Value)

This important number symbolizes eternity and perfection. It also symbolizes the victory over evil. We do not know of any other person’s name that also gives the value 888 in the Greek language. “Iesous” consists of 6 letters. The 6 is the number of man, because Jesus was the Son of Man.
Jn 1:11-12: “He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
The name “Jesus” is even more significant in its expressiveness than “Yahweh“, because the latter only means that the God is there and exists; but “Jesus” does not only mean that he exists, but also additionally saves mankind from eternal death. Without Jesus there is no eternal life.
