A Chinese fighter jet flew within 20 feet (about 7 meters) of a US electronic warfare aircraft, forcing it to maneuver to avoid a collision over the South China Sea, US Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) said today.

The incident with the near-collision of the two aircraft took place on December 21, but has now come to light.

A Chinese J-11 fighter jet and a US Air Force RC-135 were involved, USINDOPACOM said in a statement.
