Soldiers from the Russian Wagner organization are training Belarusian forces, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense announced today.
The ministry released a video showing Wagner fighters training Belarusian soldiers at a military field near the town of Osipovichi, about 90 km southeast of the capital Minsk.
“Wagner fighters act as trainers in a number of military sectors,” according to the ministry.
Currently, near the city of Osipovichi in the Mogilev region of Belarus, they have started training units of the territorial troops of the Republic of Belarus under the guidance of military trainers from Wagner PMC, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported .
Belarusian conscripts, who are part of the territorial troops, and experienced Wagner PMC fighters are involved. During the lessons, there is training in combat tactics and shooting. In addition, Belarusian ground troops are taught the basics of medicine, and the handling of mines and explosives.
Earlier, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, speaking about the arrival of the “Wagnerites” in the republic, noted that their experience would be very useful in the preparation of the Belarusian security forces.
It also became known that Wagner PMC fighters will participate in joint training with the special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus – SOBR and Almaz.
Are 120,000 soldiers of the territorial defense forces preparing?
The territorial defense troops of Belarus are called up only in case of war. In peacetime, they periodically undergo military training and retraining.
The number of territorial troops is over 120 thousand people.
Finally, the commander of the Air Force and Air Defense of Belarus Andrei Lukyanovich confirmed that the country will receive new medium-range Buk-MB3K, short-range Tor-M2 air defense systems as well as a squadron of Mi-35M helicopters.
At the same time, Belarusian authorities are set to place additional orders for Su-30SM fighters in Russia, which will help phase out Soviet-made MiG-29 aircraft.
In addition, the Republic of Belarus plans to upgrade approximately 400 of its T-72B tanks, inherited from the USSR, to the T-72BM2 standard – the upgrade package will be comparable to that of the Russian T-72B3M. It includes new thermal imaging sights and a 3rd generation ERA similar to the Russian Relikt system.
V. Zelensky requested a new recruitment of 200,000 men!
At the same time, the President of Ukraine held a new meeting at the Headquarters of the Supreme Command “on the protection of the northern borders”.
According to sources in Ukrainian military circles, V. Zelensky ordered the mobilization of an additional 200,000 people with the corresponding order already given to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Zelensky called for increased mobilization and an increase in the size of the active army in view of the new dangers from the northern front.
Information reports that V. Zaluzny showed strong discomfort with Zelensky’s orders, judging that such a thing is currently unattainable.
