Bilateral talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un began today at the Vostochny Cosmodrome in eastern Russia, Russian news agencies reported.
According to the official Russian news agency TASS, the talks are being held in the negotiation room of the cosmodrome in the presence of delegations from the two countries, while it is clarified that the Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu is also participating in the talks.
Kim told Putin that Russia is waging a holy war with the West and that the two countries will fight imperialism together.
“Russia is waging a holy battle to protect its sovereignty and its security … against hegemonic powers ,” Kim told Putin through an interpreter.
“We will always support the decisions of President Putin and the Russian leadership … and we will be together in the fight against imperialism.” North Korea has always supported and supports all decisions of President Putin and the Russian government,” the North Korean leader noted.
He recalled that the Soviet Union played an important role in building North Korea’s independence. Cooperation and friendship between the two countries ” have deep roots” and today relations with Russia are Pyongyang’s “first priority” , Kim Jong-un emphasized.
The North Korean leader also expressed confidence that the Russian army will win the war in Ukraine.
“I am deeply convinced that the heroic army of Russia and the people will brilliantly inherit the tradition of Victory, will confidently demonstrate outstanding virtues and honor on the fronts of war, in building a strong state <…> you will certainly win a great victory in the holy struggle to punish the great evil that claims hegemony ,” said Kim Jong Un, speaking at the official dinner that concluded the negotiations at the Vostochny Cosmodrome.
He then said:
“I want to make a toast to the health of the respected President of the Russian Federation, Comrade Vladimir Putin, to new victories of Great Russia, to the continued development of Russian-Korean friendship and to the health of all who are here today.”
