An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred only 12 minutes ago 77 km southwest of Chinandega, Nicaragua, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.

The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 57 km beneath the epicenter near Chinandega, Departamento de Chinandega, Nicaragua, early morning on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021, at 3:57 am local time.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

A second report was later issued by the United States Geological Survey, which listed it as a magnitude 6.7 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 6.6.

12 And again, Isaiah says,

“The Root of Jesse will spring up,
    one who will arise to rule over the nations;
    in him the Gentiles will hope.”[f]

13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
