Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has issued a plea for peace in Kosovo amid rising tensions with Pristina. However, he also vowed to fight to the death if ethnic Serbs in the self-proclaimed republic are targeted for another pogrom.
A sudden escalation has taken place between Serbia and Kosovo in recent hours as armed clashes have taken place between Serbs and Albanians in the region. Air raid sirens have been sounding for 1.5 hours in Mitrovica.
According to information, the president of Serbia will address the Serbian people shortly, while the Army has been put on high alert. Already Serbian special forces are taking combat positions on the border with Kosovo.
Serbian sources speak of direct exchanges of fire between the forces of the two countries. This information is conveyed with all reservations as it has not been officially confirmed. There is also information about an injured Serb

The city of Las Vegas, New Mexico, has less than two months of drinking water after a massive wildfire contaminated a river the town pulls from, according to local news KOAT 7.
Not to be confused with Las Vegas, Nevada, the 13,000-person city in San Miguel County relies solely on the now contaminated Gallinas River, which is full of ash and debris after the Calf Canyon-Hermits Peak Fire.
New Mexico Gov. Michelle Grisham declared “a state of emergency in Las Vegas” on Friday after the town’s drinking water storage had only 50 days of stored water left.
Las Vegas Mayor Louie Trujillo said the municipal water treatment facility could not treat the contaminated water. The town is running out of options and has implemented Stage 6 water restrictions.
The new measures include no watering outside, no refilling pools, restaurants are prohibited from serving water to customers except when asked, fire departments use foam to fight fires rather than water, and large commercial customers delay consuming large quantities of water.
There’s no immediate solution for a secondary water source for the town nor a timeframe when parts of Gallinas River will be suitable for water treatment.

The Chinese Army is laying the foundations for a large-scale attack against Taiwan on the occasion of the possibility of a visit by N. Pelosi. Well-informed Chinese as well as Russian sources report that the transfer of forces that have nothing to do with “a simple military exercise” has begun.
Nancy Pelosi’s office has revealed that she is expected to visit Singapore on August 1st for a US Chamber of Commerce event. In its program it explicitly included the countries of Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan, but not Taiwan.
Chinese sources said they did not expect anything different at this stage. If the Pelosi visit takes place, it will be a surprise and will not be announced. Chinese troops will therefore remain on alert until the speaker of the House of Representatives finishes her travels

It is worth noting that Taiwan is only 180 km away from this point, so it is within their range.
Chinese sources said the missile strikes were carried out along the eastern part of the strait, and the impact was so massive that it could be seen from up to 80 kilometers away.

Cash deals exceeding 6,000 NIS will be illegal, as part of the effort to fight against money laundering and criminal activity.
A new law is set to take effect in Israel starting August 1 that will ban payments of large sums of money in cash and bank checks. The goal of the reform, according to a statement issued by Israel’s Tax Authority, is to fight organized crime, money laundering and tax non-compliance.
Under the new law, any payment to a business above 6,000 NIS ($1,700) must be made using alternative methods, such as a digital transfer or a debit card. Trading between private citizens who are not listed as business owners will be limited to 15,000 NIS ($4,360) in cash. This is another step in Israel’s fight against the use of cash. Previously, cash up to the amount of 11,000 NIS ($3,200) could be used in business deals.
“We want the public to reduce the use of cash money,” adv. Tamar Bracha, who is in charge of executing the law on behalf of Israel’s Tax Authority, told The Media Line. “The goal is to reduce cash fluidity in the market, mainly because crime organizations tend to rely on cash. By limiting the use of it, criminal activity is much harder to carry out.”

A North Texas city is on the verge of running out of water as a historic drought grips the region. Gunter, Texas — a town of 2,500 north of Dallas — relies on three wells, two of which have been broken for a month.
After increasingly tightening lawn-watering restrictions, the city warned its residents on Wednesday that they could be out of water by the following morning. “Due to excessive water consumption, the City’s water storage tanks are unable to refill,” the notice said. It directed residents to stop all outdoor watering and cut down on indoor water use including washing dishes or clothes, showering and other “nonessential” water use.
By Friday morning, Gunter had avoided disaster, but bans on water use were still in place while contractors worked to fix the town’s wells. Gunter’s water shortage comes as large parts of the West are struggling with a drought that scientists have called the worst in 1,200 years. Towns from Texas to California have put in water restrictions, while ranchers are selling cattle they can no longer feed because their crops have dried up.
“We’re just taking it hour by hour and day by day,” city manager Rick Chaffin told CBS MoneyWatch, adding that contractors were working on the wells “as we speak.” Chaffin said he was “cautiously optimistic” the city might pull through, as long as residents continued to conserve water until the middle of next week, when a second well is expected to be repaired.
Gunter receives water from three wells, which have broken intermittently amid higher than usual use, Chaffin said. “People are using well water to water their lawns now, because the rain is not providing water,” he said. The wells “were designed to run 50%-60% of the time, and they were running continuously,” he added. “Kind of like when you run your air conditioner all the time — eventually it’s going to break.

One of the most alarming signs of a coming crisis is the sudden transfer of PLA forces spotted moving into the city of Hangzhou, which is part of the Eastern Theater of Operations Command towards Fujian Province. Fujian Province is located directly across from Taiwan
