The United States has fired the first warning shots at China, imposing sanctions on Chinese officials. A few hours ago, they demanded that Beijing condemn Russia for invading Ukraine.
The move sparked outrage in Beijing, with a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman saying “if the US does not immediately lift sanctions on Chinese officials, the Chinese side will take reciprocal measures.”
Apparently, the US is not limited to a diplomatic war on one front with Russia, but the Biden government seems ready to escalate with China over the Ukraine issue and the Beijing-Moscow alliance.

The US State Department has announced a round of sanctions against Chinese officials involved in the crackdown on religious and ethnic minorities.
The measures target those “believed to be responsible or complicit in policies or actions aimed at suppressing ethnic and religious minorities, including those seeking security abroad, and U.S. citizens speaking on behalf of these vulnerable populations.”
