Turkey has launched sweeping drone and F-16 airstrikes against US-controlled oil production facilities in NE Syria. The move is directed 100% against the USA with the aim of depriving them of revenue and infrastructure and leading them to leave the country.

In one day, Turkey’s drones and fighter jets hit 52 targets in NE Syria leaving dozens of casualties and causing heavy damage.

The proxy war between the Turkish-backed jihadist rebels and the US-backed Kurds in Syria is turning into a direct war between Turkey and the West, confirming Macron’s statement that “NATO in its current form is brain dead.”

Previously, Turkey announced that all PKK and YPG infrastructure and energy facilities in Syria and Iraq are now legitimate targets.

Turkey bombs US-controlled oil production facilities!

Turkey has launched airstrikes against Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) targets in northern Syria.

Oil wells, warehouses, refining facilities, bunkers were completely destroyed, the Turkish Ministry of Defense said.

Turkey hit an oil facility in Qardahol, Al-Qaws station north of Al-Jawadiya and Saida oil station in Al-Qahtaniya district.

Yesterday, an airstrike on oil production facilities in Kurdish territory where Washington illegally pumps Syrian oil led to the downing of a Turkish Anka-S drone less than 500 meters from US troop positions.

It was the first time US troops shot down a drone belonging to a NATO ally.

Turkey: Launched airstrikes with F-16s and UAVs in northern Syria

Turkey “neutralized” 26 Kurdish rebels in northern Syria overnight in retaliation for a rocket attack on a Turkish base, the defense ministry said today, as the conflict escalated a week after the Ankara bombing.

In the meantime, the Turkish forces proceeded with the specific offensive operations, at the moment when the Turkish Minister of Defense Yasar Güler had a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin, on the occasion of the shooting down of an armed Turkish ANKA-S type unmanned aerial vehicle by an American fighter type F- 16, as the Turkish UAV was operating in an area where American military forces were deployed.

A rocket attack on a military base by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia killed a Turkish police officer and wounded seven officers and soldiers in northwest Syria’s Dabiq region last night, according to Ankara.

The Turkish Defense Ministry said Ankara had separately carried out airstrikes and neutralized 30 rebel targets in other areas of northwestern Syria, including an oil well, weapons and ammunition depots and shelters.

In fact, they published footage of F-16 fighter jets deployed at night to carry out the airstrikes in question.

US Fails to Prevent Turkish Bombing of Syria’s Kurdish Enclave

Turkish drones carried out multiple strikes within a kilometer of a US base in northeastern Syria on Thursday, sending US troops scrambling for cover just hours before a US commander ordered a drone shot down, the Pentagon said.

Pentagon press secretary Pat Ryder described the downing — the first of its kind between the two NATO allies — as an “unfortunate incident” carried out in self-defense.

“American commanders on the ground assessed that there was a potential threat and so they took prudent action,” Ryder said, before describing the call between Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and his Turkish counterpart Yasar Guler as “fruitful.”

“We will continue to keep these lines of communication open to hopefully prevent these types of incidents from occurring ,” he added. “Turkey remains a very important and valuable NATO ally for the United States.”

The U.S. military first noticed the drones conducting raids in Hasaka province around 7:30 a.m. local time Thursday morning, Ryder said.

“Some of these strikes were within a US-declared no-go zone,” he added.

US military officials in the region called their Turkish counterparts and warned them to withdraw the drones away from the US position, two officials told Al-Monitor.

The Turkish drones appeared to comply, the officials said. A single drone later re-entered the area around 11:30am. and came within 500 meters of the US base, according to Ryder.

“After a dozen calls to Turkish military officials who stated that US forces were on the ground in the area and that the US would engage in self-defense if they did not leave the area, a US F-16 shot down the UAV.

“We gave a detailed location of our forces ,” the American official added.

Ryder did not confirm whether the drone belonged to the Turkish military or the Turkish intelligence service, although two US officials who spoke to Al-Monitor said the latter.

The Turkish military alerted its American counterparts ahead of this week’s bombings in Iraq and Syria, a US official told Al-Monitor.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Washington’s newly sworn-in top general, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General CQ Brown, called on their Turkish counterparts Yasar Guler and Armed Forces Chief of Staff Metin Gurak in an attempt to defuse tensions after his ouster of a Turkish drone on Thursday.

Austin “called for de-escalation in northern Syria and the importance of maintaining strict adherence to non-conflict protocols and communication through established military channels,” the Pentagon said in a readout of the call.

But Turkish warplanes carried out raids on Tel Rifaat, Derik and the wider Jazira area late Thursday night, the defense ministry in Ankara said. Thirty targets were hit, including an oil well, a warehouse and warehouses “used by terrorists,” according to the statement.

Local media in northeastern Syria also reported artillery strikes on villages outside the city of Kobani.

Turkey’s latest round of shelling hit electricity, water, oil and other facilities across the Kurdish-controlled zone.
