KRON) — A ground stop issued by the Federal Aviation Administration for all Alaska Airlines flights has been canceled. The ground stop impacted all Alaska mainline and subcarrier flights, according to an advisory on the FAA website. An updated advisory posted a short while later stated that the ground stop had been cancelled.
The issue was related to problems with a computer system upgrade, according to the Seattle-based carrier. The issue arose while performing an upgrade to a computer system, according to the airline.
Alaska Airlines issued the following statement on the issue behind the ground stop:null
“This morning we experienced an issue while performing an upgrade to the system that calculates our weight and balance. A ground stop for all Alaska and Horizon flights was instituted at approximately 7:50am PT. We’re working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and encourage guests to check the status of their flights on alaskaair.com or the Alaska App prior to heading to the airport.”
All Alaska Air destination airports were impacted by the advisory. Alaska Airlines offers service to all three of the Bay Area’s major airports.
The FAA approved the ground stop at approximately 7:50 a.m. PST.
